Switching gears just a little bit, this is not the original blog topic I was going to blog about but since I am currently dealing with this topic I thought I would blog about it, one of the toughest things with my almost 2 year old son has been his lack of listening and it has only gotten worse since our new born came into the picture November 19th and within the past couple days he really has been at the peek of his worseness, well at lease its the worse that we have seen him, im sure as he gets more into his 2s and 3s he will be worse then he is now, so as of today he is going to learn what time out is going to be like and so far within the past 15 minutes he has had two 2 minute time outs that consist of him having to sit in a chair and not move for 2 minutes and boy he DON'T LIKE IT.
I am really interested in other parents tips on this subjects, punishing a child without hitting them, when I was a child my mom spanked me bear bottom with a ping pong paddle, and it wasn't one of those paddles that was made of rubber or hard plastic, it was wooden with a sandpaper type surface, one of my good friends was spanked with a belt and inside the belt would be like a tally system.
Just read a very interesting post by Dr Sears in regards to time out.... '
10 Time-out Techniques' pretty good read.
